What does my wastewater facility need to test for?

A facilities testing requirements depends upon their permit issued by the Department of Environmental Quality. Your wastewater operator should have a copy of the permit and review it regularly to ensure that all requirements stipulated by the permit are being met. What is an NPDES or WPCF permit?

NPDES & WPCF permits allow a site to treat and discharge wastewater. In Oregon the permits are regulated by the Department of Environmental Quality(DEQ).

What is a permit violation?

All permitted facilities have certain limits and procedures that they must follow. If a permit requirement is broken it is called a violation. An example of a violation would be a laboratory result that exceeds the maximum amount allowed or neglecting to write down system usage information.
